The sales and service team at Two Wheels in Edinburgh the Honda dealer have been fantastic, and although we did not eventually go for a Suzuki the team at Saltire in Edinburgh, the Suzuki dealership were also and are still of a great deal of help.

Honda are offering a dedicated Blood bike all kitted out at a very advantageous price, this is still a lot to come up with for a charity relying on donations from the public and local businesses. Lets just see what we can get.

Thanks

I.A.M.test

When volunteering to be a Blood Bike Rider you will be
expected to have the road skills of an advanced rider, this will involve each
rider undertaking the I.A.M Skill for Life course.

Put quite simply, the IAM course offers the opportunity for bikers to
improve their riding standards, helping to make them safer on the roads.

Thousands of motorcyclists take the advanced riding programme (Skill for
Life) every year.

The advanced test Is one of the fantastic benefits of an enthusiastic
and highly motivated volunteer network that is, in most instances, the IAM
local group volunteer observer, who will be happy to provide more observed runs
if needed, at no extra cost to the £139 purchase price of Skill for Life,
although there may be an additional contribution requested for fuel for your
IAM Motorcycle observer.

We are currently trying to negotiate with I.A.M. to get a block price
for all of our riders And hopefully bring this cost down to a more beneficial level, so stay
in touch with this site to see what happens.

I feel that it can only be of benefit to all of us riders whether we
wish to be blood bike riders or just help in the back ground to keep the group
going.

Thanks for reading

Ron Spalding.

We are currently trying to set up one of Scotland’s first blood bike services. We will be under the umbrella of NABB (Nationwide Association of blood bikes). This organisation was set up in about 2010/11 to advise member groups on various pieces of information that may be required.

The blood bike service has been operating in England since 1968 and successfully deliver all types of product between hospitals, not just blood. NABB and its member groups are also equipped to safely deliver Breast milk from area to area.

We are a voluntary organisation completely manned by volunteers and are currently saving English hospitals in the region of £40,000 to £60,000 per hospital per year in transport costs.

We need help, we are already getting requests from nursing mothers who wish to donate milk to the milk bank in Glasgow. We would like to get involved in this service but as of yet are not at the stage where we can do this.

We already have the volunteers we already have the resolve we already have the backing of NABB, all we need now is a bit of help with the final stages to get up and running. If you think you can help with one of the first services of its kind in Scotland please don’t hessitate to get in touch and help assist in getting this off the ground.

Thank you in anticipation for any help you can give.
